WORLD OF NATURE

Val de Vie, being the ‘Valley of Life, ’ embraces the concept of holistic natural living. To attain this, several projects have been initiated to ensure the estate is a functional ecosystem for its natural inhabitants and their human counterparts. These projects include alien plant control, reclamation of historically damaged areas, the reintroduction of locally scarce or extinct species and the sustainable survival of others.

Public open spaces, parks, and natural areas throughout the estate are aesthetically pleasing and act as corridors that link into a habitat network for birds, insects and other wildlife. The flagship bio corridor through the estate connects the mountains and the river and is home to a developing community of plants and animal life that reflect the historic landscape.

The waterways and lakes linked to the Berg River system play an essential role as biofilters and natural habitat that helps maintain the water quality of one of the largest rivers in the Western Cape.

The largely natural surroundings ensure that Val de Vie is an island of tranquillity for our homeowners to retire to after a day in the frenetic world outside the estate, where children are safe to roam, and the natural sound outnumbers artificial.
